Overview

Films played an important role in shaping the Manic Street Preachers and for Nicky Wire to curate the film festival in Blackwood is a special moment for Velvet Coalmine and everyone connected with the town.

The films selected by Nicky and BAFTA-winning Director Kieran Evans were among those that inspired the band and with such a broad selection, represent something for everyone.

They will be shown over two full days – Saturday Sep 5th and Sunday Sep 6th – at the Black Sheep, a new venue in Blackwood and a stones throw from the Blackwood Miner’s Institute that will be hosting Slaves and Meat Puppets on the same two dates.

Alongside Nicky and Kieran’s selections, there’s also a special showing of the Don Letts’ film Punk Attitude, followed by an exclusive Q & A with the man himself during Saturday too.

Screenings are just £1 per person per film. Tickets available to purchase on the door.

A truly fantastic weekend for Blackwood and our thanks to Nicky and Kieran for their support!
